Moishe Alexander contributes financially to Mosdos Torah Veyirah

Indeed, while mankind will be a major factor in the undoing of wrong and injustice, we simply couldn’t do that on our own. All the pieces of the great and intricate clock we’d cited before – all the key and low-key phenomena that go into life as we know it (and life as we don’t) – will play a part as well.

In fact, all of that is now honing and readying the world for the undoing of wrong. Left to its own devices, wrong would flourish only too well, to be sure; but all is getting set for its undoing.

And so it’s clear why mankind has to have a yetzer harah with all the wrongful, self-centered drives that it feeds into – so we could learn to restrain and rise above all that. Know, however, while that element of our being – our ingrown imperfection, and all our smallness and malevolence – will be with us for the meanwhile, it will all prove to have helped advance us in the end.

Thus, all the factors that go into the eventual undoing of the world’s wrong and malevolence will also contribute to the undoing of our own wrongdoings.

Ashdod

Modern Ashdod was established in 1956 on the sand hills near the site of the ancient town, and incorporated as a city in 1968, with a land-area of approximately 60 square kilometers (23.2 sq mi). Being a planned city, expansion followed a main development plan, which facilitated traffic and prevented air pollution in the residential areas, despite population growth. According to the Israel Central Bureau of Statistics, Ashdod had a population of 207,000 at the end of 2007, the fifth largest city in Israel and had an area of 47242 dunams.

Donation given by Moishe Alexander to Netivot Chaim

YBA Netivot Chaim aims to provide a Torani educational option for boys from northern Jerusalem and nearby settlements. Pisgat Zev is the largest neighborhood in Jerusalem with a working class population that resembles the socioeconomic level of a development town. The school places an <em>emphasis on sports, in which the boys excel, together with a strong Jewish education. The students have earned numerous trophies in a variety of sport competitions.

YBA Netivot Chaim maintains an open registration policy, which means that many students come from traditional, rather than religious families, and that a high proportion cannot afford to pay tuition and fees. As a result, the yeshiva has a greater need for scholarship funding than other YBA schools to maintain YBA’s high educational standards. Matriculation tracks include biology, computers, art, geography and Land of Israel studies.

Due to budgetary constraints, the yeshiva reduced the number of teaching hours this year to just six hours per day, and opened an afternoon Beit Midrash program staffed, in part, by rabbinical students studying in a Kollel Yeshiva located within the yeshiva’s building. Students volunteer every week by delivering food to the needy, working with the Citizen’s Alert Patrols, and visiting the sick and elderly in the community, as well as engaging in outreach work to help bridge the gap between observant and non-observant neighborhood residents.

Some of the Yeshiva’s most urgent needs:

 1. Scholarship Fund (for increase of 2 hours per day) – $125,000
2. Beit Midrash furniture and Torah library – $50,000
3. Upgrading of Educational Environment and Landscaping – $50,000
4. Upgraded of Computer Laboratory – $20,000

Located 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) south of Jerusalem, Beitar Illit was established in 1985 and initially settled by a small group of young families from the religious zionist yeshiva of Machon Meir, including that of Rabbi Reuven Hass (now of Beit El). As Beitar Illit began to grow, an influx of Haredi Jewish families came to predominate while the original group moved on. The city has since expanded to three adjacent hills.

Beitar Illit is a fast-growing settlement, with a higher birthrate than any other habitation in the West Bank or Israel. At the end of 2007, it had a total population of 32,200. According to former mayor Yitzchak Pindrus, the population is expected to reach 100,000 by 2020, based on population growth and the building of new apartments to attract more Haredim from older Haredi cities such as Bnei Brak and parts of Jerusalem. Like other settlements within the Israeli-occupied territories Beitar Illit is widely considered as illegal under international law, though Israel disputes this.

Beitar Illit was the first Haredi town to be established as such. The city’s ideology is based on the desire to have an exclusively Haredi environment. It is named after the ancient Jewish city of Betar, whose ruins lie 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) away.

Sulam is a non-profit organization for special education which is why Moishe Alexander has donated.

Sulam was established in 1981 with the goal of advancing children with special needs, who suffer from a variety of difficulties including: developmental delays, Autism Spectrum Disorder, physical, emotional, sensory-integrative, behavioral and learning disorder, and combinations thereof.

At present 358 children aged 3 months to 17 years attend 39 different classes in Sulam under the dedicated professionalism of 363 staff members in 7 branches.

Sulam’s approach to therapeutic intervention and education is holistic as it aims to enable children to realize their individual potential, and to achieve maximum independent functioning levels and readiness for successful integration into society. Approximately 25% of Sulam’s children are ultimately able to integrate into a regular classroom.

Sulam pioneers in implementing new and unique methods of treatment for special children. Its highly professional paramedical and psychological staff provides a wide range of therapies and intervention techniques in an all-encompassing program with state-of-the art equipment, along with support and guidance to the children’s families.

Sulam’s Influence

Short-term: Sulam provides a one-stop service where all the helped need for special children is available under one roof, thus sparing parents the need to run to and from a variety of institutions and costly private therapies at the expense of their hours at the workplace and home.

Long-term: Sulam’s intensive investment in cutting-edge therapeutic and educational intervention significantly increases the likelihood that children with a wide range of disabilities can be mainstreamed into the normative educational system. This is not only of immeasurable emotional and social benefit to the children and their families, but serves to save the State, and the taxpayer, major expenses.

The ancient city of Beit Shemesh (“house of the sun” or “temple of the sun” in Hebrew) was originally named after the Canaanite sun-goddess Shemesh, which was worshipped there in antiquity. The ruins of the ancient biblical city can still be seen in the tell of Beit Shemesh, located near the modern city.

Several important and unique archaeological discoveries have been made in recent digs at the tell. The most ancient iron workshop in the world was discovered here in 2003. The only remnants of a fortified city with an advanced water system, from the time of the early Kingdom of Judah was found here. In all layers from this period, the bones of animals were all of kosher animals, in contrast to nearby ancient fortresses and settlements of that period such as Maresha, Azeka or Lachish, suggesting an early Jewish settlement and advanced kingdom in the early biblical “kings” period.

In a short period of time most of Bnei Brak’s secular and Religious Zionist residents migrated elsewhere, and the city has become almost homogeneously Haredi. The city has one secular neighbourhood, Pardes Kats. Names of streets that had had a Zionist connotation were changed and named after prominent Haredi figures, the most recent and final change being the renaming of Herzl St. to HaRav Shach St. The Israeli flag is barely seen in Bnei Brak, since the State of Israel is seen as a secular entity; however, it is certain to be seen flying atop the Ponevezh yeshiva, as the practice was originally instituted by Rabbi Yosef Shlomo Kahaneman. Bnei Brak is one of the two poorest cities in Israel.

Bnei Brak has multiple chief rabbis, catering to different groups in the city. The most important are Rabbi Moshe Yehuda Leib Landau, and Rabbi Nissim Karelitz.
